Tight muscles and stiff joints are two of the biggest causes of injury that people face when engaging in physical activity.
This makes sense because if your muscles are too tight or don’t have enough blood flow to them yet, or if your joints are locked up from sitting all day, they will not be able to meet the demands you are placing on them, causing them to break down.
It’s kind of like trying to start your car when it is -40 Celsius out. It will run, but it will struggle until it has been given a chance to warm up.
Here are 6 different dynamic mobility stretches you can use at the beginning of your walk or run to help loosen up your body from the waist down.
Dynamic stretches are best before a workout as they help get the blood flowing to your muscles and joints, warming them up and allowing them to work more effectively.
If you notice that one movement highlights a particularly stiff muscle or joint, feel free to increase the number of repetitions of that movement until you start to feel the area release.
Don’t forget to perform these movements on both sides!
Let me know how it goes!
